H-Tags in HTML or CSS
The Importance of Being Earnest about H-Tags
How header tags are used in CSS and some good sizes for the fonts
Creating H-tags (header tags) is important for SEO as many internet-savvy individuals are aware. But how to implement them to make them SEO friendly? While there are no set rules to the game of search engine optimization and ranking, there are helpful hints from looking at past results that show what are some good formats for H1 tags in particular.
Here is an example of a good style for an H1 tag through CSS:
<style>
H1 {
font-size:16px;
color:Navy;
margin-top:-10px;
margin-bottom:-10px;
}
</style>
Note that the font size is reasonably large, but at the same time not huge (nor small). You always want to steer clear of any of the smaller fonts (like size 8 or 9), simply because the smaller the font, the more deceptively hidden it can seem to search engine crawler (though there are the exceptions to the rule).
Margins are also good to have at the top and bottom in order to provide a reasonable amount of space. Text that is too close to the next line can be difficult for the typical online reader. The color is also Navy, making it stand out from the black text (ANY color is fine, as long as you don't use <blink> which causes this:
blink
. VERY bad to use and probably the most useless HTML code ever invented (with very few and far between on the exceptions to this).
